Monday 13th January, 2015, Aberdeen, Scotland. A Scots missionary who helped bring together tribes in West Africa over 100 years ago was honoured yesterday (TUE) on the centenary of her death. Aberdeen-born Mary Slessor followed in the footsteps of David Livingstone by travelling to what is now Nigeria to spread the teachings of the Christian faith. She spent almost 40 years saving children and promoting the rights of women in a male dominated tribal culture before her death in January 1915. Yesterday on the 100th anniversary of her passing, her hometown came together to pray and honour her "amazing influence". Pastor Ajukwura Wokomah (ALLCORR) of the Jesus House, City of God congregation led the tributes.?
